BEAVERTON, Ore. — The summer is just heating up, and summer means a wide variety of family-friendly events and activities presented by clubs in Rotary District 5100.
For the athletes, join the Rotary Club of Wallowa County for the Lostine River Run on Saturday, July 4, amidst the natural beauty of Northeast Oregon. The 7 a.m. start includes 10-kilometer, 5-kilometer, and one-mile courses, with proceeds benefiting the club’s scholarship and youth programs.
On the west side of the Cascades, the Hillsboro Rotary Club presents the 100th edition of the Hillsboro 4th of July parade beginning at 10 a.m. Over 80 parade entries celebrate not only the 250th birthday of the United States of America, but the centennial of one of the community’s marquee annual events.
The Rotary Club of Wilsonville is once again sponsoring its annual summer concert series on Thursdays from July 16 to August 6. The fun begins at 5:30 p.m., with each week’s headlining act taking stage at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are being accepted for Rotary International’s drive to end polio.
For the car enthusiasts, the Rotary Club of Forest Grove presents its 52nd Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, July 19, on Pacific University’s Forest Grove Campus. Over 300 classic and modified cars are on display, to go along with live music and local food and drink. Proceeds benefit the club’s annual scholarship program and service programs.
The golfers might want to take part in the Central East Portland Rotary Club and East Portland Rotary Club’s annual golf tournament on Monday, July 13 at Portland’s Glendoveer Golf Course. The $150 entry fee benefits District 5100’s efforts to end sex trafficking, and includes golf, lunch and dinner.
No month of the Rotary year would be complete without service to the community. The Tualatin Rotary Club joins with Viva Tualatin for its Books on Wheels event on Saturday, July 11. The effort provides over 2,000 free books for readers of all ages to support literacy in the community.

Lostine River Run
Come to beautiful Wallowa County for one of the oldest running events in Eastern Oregon. Enjoy the 10-kilometer, 5-kilometer and one-mile courses that are breathtaking in their scenic beauty and a racing community that is warm, welcoming, and sure to make its way into your heat. The Lostine River Run is a competitive race for serious runners with family-friendly options that make participation affordable. The race is organized by the Rotary Club of Wallowa County and all proceeds benefit Rotary youth programs and scholarships. Hillsboro Rotary 4th Of July Parade
The 100th edition of the Hillsboro Rotary 4th of July Parade brings the community together to celebrate Independence Day and America’s 250th birthday. Enjoy over 80 parade entries as they make their way through downtown Hillsboro. This year’s grand marshal is Scott Kellar, a longtime educator, coach, and community leader in Hillsboro. The Hillsboro Rotary Club has been a strong partner of the parade for over 50 years, providing an incredible team of volunteers to make the event possible. Books On Wheels Book Giveaway
Viva Tualatin invites the community to a wonderful summer fair. Books on Wheels provides a booth with over 2,000 free books manned by members of the Tualatin Rotary Club, which is a stronger supporter of literacy efforts. Visitors to the fair can select up to 10 books, spanning all reading levels from babies to adults. This project is supported by a $1,750 District 5100 Matching Grant.

Rotary Clubs Golf Tournament
Join members of two of east Portland’s Rotary clubs for and fun afternoon of golf to support the Central East Portland Rotary Club and the East Portland Rotary Club and their service projects. Entry fee is $150 per person and includes green fees, a lunch before the tournament and a buffet dinner after. Proceeds will benefit the District 5100 effort to end sex trafficking. 52nd Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance
Come out to Pacific University’s Forest Grove Campus to see some of the finest classic cars in the Pacific Northwest! Now in its 52nd year, the Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance is the longest-running concours-caliber car show in the region with over 300 classic and modified cars lining the tree-lined campus. The event also boasts live music, local cuisine and libations. Proceeds benefit the Rotary Club of Forest Grove’s Scholarship Program, which has provided over $1 million in scholarships over the history of the show, and community service projects.
